The following are the components of the Modern Love Charm:
1) Oxytocin is a relatively short polypeptide hormone composed of nine amino acids .Oxytocin is the opposite of stress hormones. The cells that make oxytocin are in the hypothalamus and send it to the pituitary gland and other regions of the brain. It is released during orgasm in both sexes. In the brain, oxytocin is involved in social recognition and bonding, and might be involved in the formation of trust between people. Oxytocin is not really a “love potion” but, it can lead to similar effects in terms of increasing trust, sexual arousal, attachment and bonding. Oxytocin is also called the cuddle hormone.

2) Pheromones are chemicals produced as messengers that affect the behavior of other individuals. They are usually wind borne. Pheromones are the most ancient form of animal communication. Their main objective is nothing but to attract the opposite sex by your olfactory stimuli. Research has shown in clinical experiments that human pheromones trigger a subconscious response in exposed subjects.

One experiment conducted at the University of Kentucky showed that women exposed to pheromone-sprayed photographs of men found them to be more attractive than those which weren't. Pheromones are well documented in the animal kingdom as the force that controls all social behavior, especially mating. Some Perfume contains these pheromones in a wonderful smelling spray. Scientists believe that pheromones cologne and perfume also work in human beings to increase attraction.

3) Aromatherapy is based on the beneficial properties of plants and flowers. Essential oils contain concentrated amounts of the beneficial compounds found in plants and are extracted though various methods. Essential oils act directly upon the hypothalamic (brain) centers, which have a regulating effect upon the pituitary gland known as the hypophysis, through hormones with the rest of endocrine system. Some essential oils are able to regulate endocrine dysfunction and immune disorders. Research suggests that there is good evidence that these therapies may be helpful for anxiety reduction for short periods.

Aromatherapy is gaining in popularity and is considered by many to be one of the leading complementary health care modalities of the twenty-first century. Nurses have been involved in aromatherapy during the past 10 years. It has been an enhancement of nursing care in Australia, South Africa, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, and, more recently, the United States.
